What Quiet Hours keeps

Until you sign in, everything you write stays on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

If you sign in to back up your diary, we store what you chose to write: your gratitude lines and notes, mood, tags, any photo you attach, and — only if you add one — the place a day was written in. Your entries are stored against your account and are not readable by other people using the app.

We also store your settings: reminder time and time zone, chosen language, and, if you set one, a scrambled (hashed) version of your PIN. We never store the PIN itself.

Signing in

Signing in happens through Google, Apple, or an email address and password. We receive an account identifier and your email address so your diary can be matched to you on every device.

If you sign in with email, the password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our sign-in provider. We never see or store your password for any of these methods.

Payments

Memberships are handled by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own payment form and are never sent to, or stored by, Quiet Hours. We keep a record of which membership you hold and when it renews.

Reminders

If you turn on the daily nudge, we store the reminder time, your time zone, and a notification token for the device so the reminder can arrive. Turning reminders off removes it.

Quotes and backdrops

When you first open the app, a few welcome questions ask what you would like the daily line to sound like. Your answers are kept as a small setting on your device and, if you sign in, with your account settings, so the tone of the daily line can match them.

Those answers are only used to choose the tone of the line. The contents of your entries are never read to personalise it, and the daily backdrop is the same for everyone.

Daily summaries (AI reflections)

When you open a reflection and ask for a reading of your day, week, or month, the words you wrote on those days are sent to an AI model so it can write a short summary back to you. Any photo you attached to those days is sent too, and for a clip a few still frames taken across it.

This only happens when you open a reflection. Nothing is sent in the background, and no other part of the app reads your entries.

A summary is written at most once a day for each view (day, week, month). After that you see the same saved words until the next day, and it cannot be re-generated on demand.

What is sent is used to produce that one reading. It is not used to train models, nothing is kept beyond your own entries, and the reading is never shown to anyone else.

If you would rather none of this was sent, simply do not open the reflection page.

Places on the map

A day only has a place attached if you add one. When you do, the location is stored with that entry so the journal map can show where the day was written.

Your places are never shared with anyone else, and deleting the entry removes its place too. If you would rather keep the map empty, simply do not add a location.

Who else can see it

Quiet Hours has no feed, no likes, and no sharing. Your entries are never shown to other users and are never sold.

The services that make the app work — the hosting and database provider, Google and Apple for sign-in, Stripe for payments, and the notification delivery service — process data only to provide that part of the app.

Deleting your diary

Any entry can be deleted from the app, and deleting an entry removes it from your account and its photo with it.

If you would like your whole account and everything in it removed, write to tashahou8@gmail.com from the address you signed in with and we will delete it.

Children

Quiet Hours is meant for people aged 13 and over, and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13; if you believe a child has been signed up, write to us and we will remove the account.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that matters, you will be asked to agree again the next time you sign in.
